Lech

Destination Features
  1. Lech am Arlberg is a mountain village and exclusive ski resort in the Vorarlberg on the banks of the river Lech. Lech is a favourite hideaway for the rich and famous, and welcomes royalty, business leaders, sports stars and film producers, amongst others. The village is full of charm and the resort offers a largely sunny extensive ski area with plenty of variety. It is one of the select group of twelve villages known as the “Best of the Alps”, not only for Winter sports enthusiasts, but also for walkers, gourmets and culture lovers too.
  2. The village of Lech is set at a modest altitude of 1,450m, but each year it receives up to double the amount of snow of some of its French rivals. The Ski Arlberg Card gives you access to the cable cars in all five Arlberg resorts and the Warth-Schröcken ski resort and is your passport to the legendary 305 kilometers of ski slopes and 200 kilometers of high Alpine deep powder snow runs. The region offers snow well into April and the pistes are best suited to intermediates, who will find the terrain a lot more friendly than in neighbouring St Anton, which is also covered by the Arlberg ski pass. The main lift is the Flexenbahn 10-seater cable car linking Zürs with Alpe Rauz in Stuben in a six-minute journey, giving access to St Anton’s 160km of pistes, which include St Christoph and Stuben. Linked Warth-Schröcken lays claim to the title of snowiest ski area in the Alps, with an extraordinary average of 10.6m each winter.
  3. The best restaurants of Austria are recorded in the annual Falstaff restaurant guide, and 3 Lech establishments received top ratings in this guide. The Griggeler Stuba under chef Thorsten Probost is very popular, as is Wunderkammer with chef Marco Rabensteiner of the Almhof Schneider. The Aurelio’s with chef Christian Rescher is highly ranked, and offers a menu of traditional and modern Austrian specialities as well as international cuisine. Lech am Arlberg, with 3 restaurants awarded Falstaff Restaurant Guide awards, is on a par with the city of Salzburg and only behind the capital Vienna, which has 4 restaurants with top marks. Thus, Lech Zürs with its 1600 inhabitants has the highest density of excellent restaurants in international comparison.
  4. Lech, a top class holiday paradise, offers events throughout the Summer and Winter. Each November Lech hosts the European Media Summit, welcoming media, representatives and politicians. To mark the start of the Winter season, Fantastic Gondolas is a show or art and lights. The White Ring is a popular cult ski circuit race, covering 22km of pistes and 5,500m of ascent held every January. There are also firework displays, and wine tasting events throughout the Winter.
